Donald N. Springmann

Donald N. Springmann

Donald Nelson Springmann, 91, of Holland Township, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2022.

Donald (or Don as he was known) was born in the Bronx, NY to the late Harry and Rose Springmann. It was quite a change when he married Margaret Blaumeiser and they bought a house in the “country” - Staten Island. Although Don wasn’t used to tent camping or hiking he was a good sport, and they spent summers camping with their children on the North shore of Long Island. Don and his father-in-law started a business quite by accident. On their weekend hikes the family gathered pinecones of all shapes and sizes. The two men started making pinecone baskets, trees, wreaths, etc. and friends and fellow workers began asking for more.

Don worked for Fahnestock and Co. for over 40 years and was their New Account’s Manager when he left the firm to join a new company - Waterhouse Securities. Knowing that he planned to retire at age 65, he and Marge moved to Holland Township, NJ in 1992 and thoroughly enjoyed living there.

Don is survived by his wife of over 65 years, a daughter and son in law, a son and daughter in law, three grandchildren, a sister in law and a niece.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ, followed by a funeral service at 12 PM with Reverend Bradley Gow of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Riegelsville, PA officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 305 Delaware Avenue, Riegelsville, PA 18077.

I saw Laura, recently, and she mentioned that her Dad had passed away. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I cherish the memories of visiting your family, along with my parents and siblings, when we were young.

We purchased the home where Donald and Marge lived in Holland township. We understand why Donald loved the home and area as we are certainly enjoying the views, especially the backyard. Marge left us many beautiful flowers to enjoy. We are thankful for our home and we would like to extend our condolences to the family. We heard of Donald's passing this week from our neighbor. We will always remember their kindness and graciousness with the sale of their home.
