David McDaid

David McDaid, 82, of Milford, NJ, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born April 12, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY, David grew up in Harrison, NJ and lived in Maplewood, NJ before moving to Milford, NJ many years ago. He served in the US Coast Guard and US Air Force (K-9 Corps) Strategic Air Command. David began his 57-year career at NJ Transit as a bus operator and held several supervisory and management positions before advancing to Director of Transportation and later Director of Labor Relations. David was a well-known radio personality and a local favorite on WDVR Radio in Sergeantsville, NJ, where he was the on-air host of Monday Morning Magic and The Country Store shows. David was member of the Hunterdon County Transportation Advisory Committee, a volunteer at the Hunterdon Medical Center, and an elder and active member of the Milford Presbyterian Church in Milford, NJ. David enjoyed playing his guitar with Guitar Jam at the Hunterdon County Senior Center and playing golf, but most of all, David enjoyed spending time with his family.

Son of the late Hugh and Martha (Boale) McDaid, David is survived by his beloved wife, Donna (Price) McDaid, his daughter Anita Fleming and her husband Richard, his two step-daughters Leighann Sibal and Lori Peck and her husband Michael, his two grandchildren Tyler Fleming and Brittany Durner and her husband John, his three step-grandchildren Ryan Sullivan, Kenzie Peck, and Toby Peck, and his great-grandchild Colton Durner. He was predeceased by his brother Hugh McDaid and his step-grandchild Riley Peck.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 2-4 PM & 7-9 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11 AM at the funeral home, with Pastor Linda Bullock officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
