Mary Brunner

Mary Brunner, 93, of Alexandria Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born May 13, 1929 in Elizabeth, NJ, Mary grew up in Union, NJ and lived in Springfield, NJ until she and her husband purchased their home, the Dorick Farm, in Alexandria Township in 1965. Mary was a cashier at the Shammy Shine Car Wash in Clinton, NJ, for over 10 years. She was also a homemaker. Mary and her husband, Emil, were both active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years, and hosted many campouts for the Boy Scouts. They were also well-known for hosting fishing derbies for children from the surrounding communities, for many years, at the pond on their property. Mary loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and spending time at the family shore house, in Brick, NJ. Mary was a Gold Circle Member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, family meant everything to Mary.

Daughter of the late James and Adelaide (LaPorte) Simaitis, Mary is survived by her son Richard G. Brunner and his wife Ellen of Holland Township, NJ, her daughter Doreen B. Suchting and her husband William of Reisterstown, MD, her six grandchildren Rachel, Robert, James, Deedra, Justin, and Jordan, her three great-grandchildren Julie, John, and Brooks, and her great-great-grandchild Cash. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Emil G. Brunner in 2015, her grandson Richard J. Brunner in 2001, and her four sisters Rita, Kate, Florence, and Evelyn.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10 AM -12 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ, followed by a Catholic Prayer Service at 12 PM, with Father Kris Kaczynski officiating. Interment will follow at the Milford Union Cemetery in Milford, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 112, Alexandria Presbyterian Church, 141 Little York-Mt. Pleasant Road, Milford, NJ 08848.
