Timothy I. Merkel

Timothy I. Merkel, 55, of Greenwich Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, in his home.

Born February 18, 1964 in Montgomery County, PA, Tim grew up in Cherry Hill and Philadelphia, and lived in various towns in New Jersey before moving to Greenwich Township, NJ in 2017. Tim graduated from Girard College in Philadelphia, PA and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University Cook College in 1989. Tim owned a landscaping business, EcoScape, for several years and worked at various jobs. More recently, Tim managed Farmtop Vineyards as well as Red Oak Mangalitsa with his children. Tim was an amateur voice actor, enjoyed nature, substitute teaching, helping others, and was passionate about helping the environment. He was a member and Junior Warden of the Phillipsburg Masonic Lodge #52.

Son of the late Charles and Barbara (Murray) Merkel, Tim is survived by his son Sean Merkel, daughter Anna Merkel, and previous wife Sonja Kattner of Bloomsbury, NJ, as well as his brothers Charles Michael Merkel of Philadelphia, PA, and Thomas Merkel and his wife Kelly of South Daytona, FL, and his sister Kelly Merkel and her husband Jeffrey of France.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 10-11 AM at the Phillipsburg Masonic Lodge #52, 400 Hillcrest Blvd, Phillipsburg, NJ. A Celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 11 AM at the Phillipsburg Masonic Lodge #52. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any Masonic charity.

I was amazed at Tim’s knowledge of homesteading and solar panels....he probably thought I was a pest, but he didn’t show it and still called me a hick in VO chats lol.
