Albert E. Hurst Obituary

Albert E. Hurst, 85, of Raritan Township, NJ, formerly of Frenchtown, NJ passed away on Tuesday June 26, 2012 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born January 11, 1927 in Pittstown, NJ, Albert lived most of his life in Frenchtown, NJ. He graduated from Frenchtown High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII, he had worked in Berlin, Germany as a generals clerk. Albert was the owner of Als Mobil Station in Milford, NJ for many years, he had also worked at the Plessey Corp. in Frenchtown. He was a baseball fan and enjoyed playing golf and playing cards with his nieces. Albert was a member of the Frenchtown Presbyterian Church and the Frenchtown American Legion Fidelity Post 113.

Son of the late William and Edna Groom Hurst, Albert was predeceased by his beloved wife Edith Opdyke Hurst. He is survived by his daughter Anita June Hurst of Frenchtown, his step daughter Diane Taylor of Upper Black Eddy, PA and many nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and cousins. He was predeceased by his step son Carl Templeton, two brothers Charles and William Hurst and two sisters Ruth Muck and Mildred Pinkerton.

Funeral services will be held on Friday June 29, 2012 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ. Interment with military honors will follow in Rosemont Cemetery in Rosemont, NJ. Visitation will also be on Friday, from 10 11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
