Alfred Seifert Obituary

Alfred George Seifert, 88, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at St. Luke's VNA Hospice House in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Born in August of 1936, in Bartenstein, Germany, Alfred immigrated to the United States in 1956 at the age of nineteen, settling first in Baptistown, New Jersey. He later lived in Bound Brook, where he met his wife, Patricia. They settled in Holland Township in 1970, where they raised their family.

Alfred attended trade school in Germany and was trained as a master mason. He was employed by the Riegel Paper Corporation and later worked at the Hunterdon Developmental Center in Clinton, NJ for over twenty-five years.

Alfred was also known as “Pop” to many. Pop especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and their friends. He was happy to share his stories, knowledge, humor, and love with them. Most of all, Alfred will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was deeply devoted to his family.

Alfred found great joy in gardening and woodworking. He had a special love for German Shepherds, which he bred, trained, and showed with pride. He was an adventurous soul who thoroughly enjoyed traveling, especially with his wife and family.

Alfred embraced life fully and generously gave his time to his community. He served as a member of the Holland Township Committee for over twenty years, assisting in the acquisition of the Riegel Ridge Community Center, farmland preservation, and the establishment of the fire company. He was a longtime member and devoted supporter of the Holland Township Volunteer Fire Company. Alfred was also a devout member of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in Milford and the Knights of Columbus.

Son of the late Erich and Olga (Propp) Seifert, Alfred is survived by his two daughters, Elaine Platt and her companion, Mark Moncourtois and Laura Burke, and her husband, Kyle, and by his son, Alfred K. Seifert. Alfred is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Lauren, David, Karl, Erika, and Klaudia. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann (Freuler) Seifert in 2001, his two brothers, Kurt and Gerhardt, and his three sisters, Hildegard, Irmgard, and Erika.
