Alvin Palmer Heckman, 91, of Holland Township, NJ passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on January 20, 1918 in Bethlehem, PA, Alvin lived in Riegelsville, PA prior to moving to Holland Township, NJ. He worked at Durham Paperboard in Durham, PA as a truck driver and also at Flemington Speedway as a ticket taker. Alvin was a carpenter and auto mechanic in his spare time. He enjoyed camping and gardening. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Son of the late Stanley and Anna (Weaver) Heckman, Alvin was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen (Toth) Heckman who passed away in 2008. He is survived by his son Robert A. Heckman of Milford, NJ; daughters Anna V. Storr of Flemington, NJ and Caroline G. Storr of Flagler Beach, FL; brother Melvin R. Heckman of Holland Township, NJ; sisters Ruth E. Paff of Easton, PA and Madlyn G. Vaughn of Easton, PA; grandchildren Melody, Lisa, Tammy and Matt; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Harmony, Kristopher, Gunnar, Dylan, Tyler, Julia and Sara. He was predeceased by brother Stanley Heckman; sisters Violet Mondeau, Anna Walters, Betty Krecker and Eleanor Pursell.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Interment will follow at Riegelsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm prior to the service at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home..
