Arthur Arling Wieder, 91, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 at his home.
Born November 18, 1921 in Holland Township, NJ, Arthur lived most of his life there until moving to Phillipsburg in 2005. He was a World War II veteran and served in the Army Air Corp. Art worked for the Riegel Paper Corp. in Milford and was the owner of the Milford Atlantic Service Station in Milford for 25 years, before retiring. He was an avid bowler and played in bowling leagues for many years. Art bowled a 299 one time, at the Riegel Ridge Lanes in Holland Township. Art enjoyed playing baseball and started playing competitively while in the Army. He loved traveling in the U.S. and overseas. He and his wife owned a home on Long Beach Island. He was a member of the American Legion Fidelity Post 113 in Frenchtown and the Milford Presbyterian Church.
Son of the late Roy and Elizabeth (Phillips) Wieder, Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years Jean S. (Drake) Wieder, his daughter Donna L. Lambdin and her husband Donald of Metuchen, NJ, his son Terry A. Wieder and his wife Cait of Scott Bar, CA, his 3 grandchildren Jennifer, Holly and Brandi, and his three great-grandchildren Kendall, Drew and Jack. He is predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
A graveside service, with Military Honors, will be held on Saturday March 23, 2013 at 11:30 AM at the Frenchtown Cemetery, Rt. 29, Frenchtown, NJ. Pastor Linda Bullock will be officiating.
Arrangements are under the care of Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ. Interment will be in Frenchtown Cemetery.
