Bertha Ann Sautner, 78, of Milford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA.
Born on June 3, 1947, Bertha Ann grew up in Kingwood Township, NJ, and graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School with the Class of 1965.
Bertha Ann dedicated much of her working life to serving her community through her employment with the United States Postal Service. She worked for over 20 years at the Milford, NJ Post Office and previously served at post offices in Frenchtown and Flemington. Following her retirement, she lovingly cared for her father, reflecting her lifelong devotion to helping others.
Compassionate by nature, Bertha Ann found great fulfillment caring for people in need. She worked for many years as a home health aide and hospice aide, providing comfort, dignity, and companionship to those she served. Her kindness and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on many families.
Bertha Ann was known for her outgoing personality, warm smile, and welcoming presence. She had a genuine way of making people feel comfortable and valued. In her free time, she was an avid reader who also enjoyed writing short stories, expressing her creativity and love of storytelling.
Daughter of the late Steve and Bertha (Stout) Perchaylo, Bertha Ann is survived by her beloved husband of 36 years, William S. Sautner, her son William Aschenbach, her brother Steven Perchaylo, her sister Melody Hamlin and her husband Edward, and her sister-in-law Sue Perchaylo. Bertha Ann is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Frank Perchaylo and her sister Diana Robbins.
Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
