Charles ”Charlie” W. Cooper, Sr., 86, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Country Meadows at Bethlehem Skilled Nursing Facility in Bethlehem, PA.
Born October 24, 1938 in Asbury, NJ, Charlie grew up in Milford, NJ. He moved to Holland Township, NJ in 1955, which is where he spent most of his life. Charlie graduated from Frenchtown High School in 1957. He worked as a lineman for JCP&L in Flemington, NJ for 41 years. As a younger man, Charlie enjoyed stock car racing and being a part of the race crew. He was an avid NASCAR fan. After his retirement, Charlie traveled most of the US in his motor home. He also enjoyed his second home in Zepher Hills, FL. He was a life member and past chief of the Milford Vol. Fire Company and a life member of the Milford-Holland Rescue Squad. Charlie was also a member of the first Riegel Ridge Rams football team, scoring their first ever touchdown. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Son of the late James and Carrie (Kitchen) Cooper, Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Janet M. (Stull) Cooper, his two sons Charles “Chuck” W. Cooper, Jr. and his wife Tracey and Christopher Cooper and his wife Sandi, his daughter Cynthia Bridge and her husband Scott, his two step-sons Richard Shive and his wife Judy and Randy Shive and his wife Kathleen, his sister Barbara Wilkins, his thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his two brothers Jack Cooper and James Cooper, and his three sisters Sally Miller, Joyce Singley, and Judy Hoare.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home. A Celebration of Charlie’s Life will follow at 12 PM with his nephew Ted Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at the Nockamixon Union Cemetery in Ferndale, PA.
