Cheryl J. Sujet Obituary

Cheryl J. Sujet, 77, of Alexandria Township, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 21, 2025.

Born October 13, 1947, in Easton, PA, Cheryl came into the world three months premature, weighing only two and a half pounds. She was considered a “premature miracle” by the doctors and staff at Easton Hospital, who marveled at her strength and resilience from the very beginning.

Cheryl grew up in Holland Township, NJ, before settling in Alexandria Township, where she spent most of her life. She was a 1966 graduate of Delaware Valley Regional High School, where she met her future husband of nearly 58 years. Cheryl built a long and dedicated career in banking, working for over 30 years and retiring in 2012 from TD Bank in Frenchtown, NJ. Earlier in her career, she was employed at Riegel Paper Corp. in Milford, NJ, and also worked as a substitute secretary at Delaware Valley Regional High School and at Standard Pressed Steel in Flemington, NJ.

A woman of many interests, Cheryl loved camping, snowmobiling, and spending time at the beach. She was an avid bowler, sharing countless games and league nights with her husband, Gary, at Frenchtown Lanes and Riegel Ridge. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and giving her time as a Girl Scout Leader in Alexandria Township for many years. Cheryl’s faith was important to her; she was a member of Everittstown United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of the choir, and a former member of Milford Presbyterian Church.

Cheryl will be remembered for her warmth, dedication, and the joy she brought to family and friends.

Daughter of the late Nelson and Verna (Castner) Ulmer, Cheryl is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Gary J. Sujet, her two daughters Tara Mayers and her husband James and Michelle Tomenchok and her husband Matt, her sister Margaret “Peggy” Ulmer, and her four granddaughters Alicia Williams, Ashley Tomenchok, Kirsten Mayers, and Isabelle Tomenchok.

A Celebration of Cheryl’s Life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Everittstown United Methodist Church, 415 County Road 513, Pittstown, NJ 08867 or to the Lustgarten Foundation (Pancreatic Cancer Research), 504 RXR Plaza, Uniondale, NY 11556.
