Daniel P. D'Avanzo Obituary

Daniel P. D’Avanzo, 91, of Pittstown, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at home on Christmas Day.

He was born in Brooklyn, NY, raised his family in Union, NJ, and settled in Pittstown, NJ, to enjoy country living. Daniel proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and worked as an electrician for most of his life. He loved caring for his home and property, gardening, reading the newspaper, watching the news and snowstorms, and spending time with his family. Daniel was a gentleman and a very positive person who always entered the room with the warmest, brightest smile. Dan loved to joke around and always had everyone around him laughing and appreciating his great sense of humor. His sparkling blue eyes were always the center of conversation when he first met people, and he enjoyed every compliment. Daniel will be remembered as “Poppee,” and his laughter, warm smile, and positive disposition will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was recently predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years, Angela D’Avanzo, on November 25, 2024. He is survived by his sister Paula Dunn, son Richard D’Avanzo, daughter Carla Roselle and husband Tony, granddaughter Brianna and husband Andrew, granddaughter Shaina and fiancé Andrew, grandson Nicholas, and great-grandson Cole. He was predeceased by his mother, Marita Bridge D’Avanzo, and sister, Marita Walters.

Services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
