Delbert Jake Warnkin, 79, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, formerly of Washington, NJ passed away on Friday December 3, 2010 at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ.
Born July 20, 1931 in Lehighton, PA, Jake lived most of his life in Washington, NJ, moving to Lopatcong Township five years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a front end specialist and auto collision repair expert for Mikes Auto Body in Washington, NJ, where he worked for over 50 years. Jake was a skilled horse rider and was a competitive barrel racer, winning many ribbons. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying skeet shooting and fishing. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada.
Jakes beloved wife, Sylvia J. (Kerr) Warnkin passed away January 1, 2010.
Jake is survived by his mother Pauline Hunsicker of Oxford, NJ, step daughter Debra DiFrancesco and her husband Rocco of Califon, NJ, brothers Richard, Thomas and Terry, sisters Linda, Tina, Harriett and Teresa and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his step son James E. Smith and step daughter Bonnie Lee.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 7, 2010 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ with Pastor Linda Bullock officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 7 9 PM and Tuesday from 10 11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
