Dennis Carr Obituary

Dennis B. Carr, 79, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at St. Luke's Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ.

Born at home on January 3, 1947, in Frenchtown, NJ, Dennis spent most of his life in the local area. He lived in Mt. Pleasant, NJ, before moving to Holland Township 50 years ago. He was a 1965 graduate of Delaware Valley Regional High School.

Dennis was drafted to serve his country in the United States Army in 1966. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable service, he began a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, working for more than 30 years in Morristown, Flemington, Hillsborough, and South River, before retiring in 2001.

A man deeply devoted to his community, Dennis was known for his kindness and willingness to help others — especially for taking care of many dogs. He faithfully served on the Frenchtown Cemetery Board and was its president for over 20 years, offering steady leadership and commitment. He was a proud member of the American Legion Fidelity Post 113 in Frenchtown.

Dennis was also an active and devoted member of Everittstown United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School, served as a Trustee, and participated on numerous committees. Throughout his life, Dennis served his country, his community, and his church faithfully and with quiet dedication. Most of all, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and “Pop” or “Poppy” to granddaughter Kylee.

Son of the late William Carr, Sr. and Cora (Pursell) Carr, Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patricia A. (Rounsaville) Carr, his son Eric M. Carr and his wife Nicole, his three brothers Harry Carr, William Carr, Jr., and Theodore Carr, his sister Sandra Lutz and her husband William, his granddaughter Kylee, his granddog Baylee, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be announced at a later date. Interment will take place at the Frenchtown Cemetery in Frenchtown, NJ. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.

Memorial contributions can be made to Frenchtown Cemetery, PO Box 8, Frenchtown, NJ 08825.
