Dorothy May Miller, 89, of Pittstown, Franklin Township, NJ, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ.
Born March 9, 1936 in Pen Argyl, PA, she was the daughter of the late Luther Ackerman and Emma (Derhammer) Ackerman. Dorothy graduated from Pen Argyl High School in 1954 and carried with her the strong work ethic and devotion to family that defined her life.
Dorothy began her career as a bookkeeper at the Pen Argyl National Bank. She later worked alongside her beloved husband, Melvin, in their business, Rite-Way Cleaning Service. In the years that followed, she was employed in production at Aries Electronics in Frenchtown, NJ, and eventually retired as a production worker group leader from Tyco Electronics in Branchburg, NJ.
She lived in Milford, NJ before settling in Franklin Township, NJ in 1984. Dorothy and her husband, Melvin Miller, shared 69 years of marriage before his passing in 2024 — a remarkable testament to their love and devotion.
Dorothy was a former member of Plainfield Church in Pen Argyl, PA. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: working on puzzles, doing needlework, spending treasured time with her family, and caring for her numerous cats over the years. She especially loved her flowers. She definitely had a green thumb as could be seen by the hundreds of plants she had in her sunroom addition and her greenhouse outside.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Dudeck and her husband Richard of Holland Township, NJ, and Yvonne Wischner and her husband Gary of Kingwood Township, NJ; her son, Marvin Miller of Anderson, SC; her four grandchildren, Tammy and Christina Dudeck, Kelly Wischner, and Amber (Wischner) Hockenbury; and her two great-grandchildren, Cierra and Celena Dudeck.
In addition to her husband, Melvin, she was predeceased by her parents; her son, Michael Miller in 1985; her brother, Harvey Ackerman; and her sisters, Elsie Miller and Marie Bush.
Dorothy will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her steady and hardworking spirit, and the warmth she brought to those around her. Her love and legacy will continue to live on through the generations she cherished so deeply.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 from 10-11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM, with Pastor Linda Bullock officiating. Interment will follow at the Plainfield Cemetery, in Pen Argyl, PA.
