Earl M. Snyder, 87, of Milford, NJ passed away Saturday May 22, 2010 with his loving wife and family by his side.
He was a life long resident of Milford, born at Riegel Paper Mill housing on December 3, 1922 to Myrtle (Rymond) and Daniel Snyder. Earl was a proud WW II Veteran with the 228 Field Artillery Battalion as a Cannoneer participating in the Erupean Invasion to include Normandy Beach and The Battle of the Bulge. During his service he was awarded 4 Bronze Battle Stars, a European Africian Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct Victory Medal and Sharp Shooter's Medal.
He was employed by Conrail, formally Pennsylvania Railroad where he retired after 35 years working as a trackman and machine operator in Phillipsburg, NJ
Spending time with his family, gardening, hunting, bowling, reading, traveling and dining out were amoung Earl's favorite pastimes. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris F. (Huffman) Snyder, daughter Jill Snyder Wallace and husband Thomas of Minot, ME , brother William Snyder and wife Ann of Daytona, FL ,son-in-law John Keller and companion Barbara Hovey of Milford NJ. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jacob Wallace, Amy Farber, Larry Keller and great-granddaughter Hailey Farber.
He is pre-deceased by daughter Susan C. Keller (2002) 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Milford Presbyterian Church, Milford, NJ with Reverend Linda Erkert Bullock officiating.
