Edith Bessie E. Davis, 83, of Lopatcong Township, NJ, formerly of Finesville, NJ, passed away on Sunday May 30, 2010 at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ

Born June 10, 1926, in Milford, NJ, Bessie lived in Finesville for over 50 years before moving to Lopatcong Township. She worked in the cafeteria at the Warren Glen School in Pohatcong Township for 32 years, she also worked for the Delaware Valley News in Frenchtown and the Riegel Paper Corp. in Milford. Bessie was known as the family historian. She enjoyed the beach, especially Chincoteague, VA and was an avid collector of sea shells. She will be dearly missed by her beloved family and many friends. She was a member of the Finesville United Methodist Church and an active member of the Riegel Ridgers.

Daughter of the late Harold and Julia Vitale Christie, Bessies husband, Charles Chuck Davis passed away in 2000. She is survived by her daughter Gloria Jeanne Cavotta and her husband Richard of Upper Mt. Bethel, PA, her granddaughter Carrie Cavotta of Easton, PA, two God daughters Kimberly Snyder and Amy Marinelli, both of Phillipsburg, NJ and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by five brothers, Eber, Victor, Robert, Thomas and Harold Christie and two sisters, Hilda Trauger and Margaret Sigafoos.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 3, 2010 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ with Pastor Doris Haley officiating. Interment will follow in Bloomsbury Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 8 PM and Thursday morning from 10 11 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
