Eleanor Jane Laire Obituary

Eleanor Jane Laire, 77, of Calisle, PA, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center in South Middleton Township, PA.

Born on April 26, 1932 in Frenchtown, NJ, Eleanor lived in Frenchtown and Milford, NJ prior to moving to Carlisle, PA in 1995. She graduated from Frenchtown High School in 1950. She was a bookkeeper for Bell Telephone in Madison, NJ for 35 years and then a bookkeeper at Oak Hill Golf Club for 9 years before retiring in 1994. Eleanor was a longtime member of the Frenchtown United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Gloucester City, NJ where she served as president of the Rebekah State Assembly of NJ. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and golfing.

Daughter of the late George and Iona Laire, Eleanor is survived by her sister Ruthann Heider and her husband Paul of Carlisle, PA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wilson F. Laire and Charles R. Laire.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 12 pm at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-12 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
