Eugene Singley, Sr. Obituary

Eugene Whitman Singley, Sr. of Tinicum Township, PA, passed away on Thursday June 11, 2009 at his home, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

From the time he was a young boy, Gene worked in the family business, Singleys General Merchandise (Singleys Store) and Trucking in Upper Black Eddy, PA. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and retired from Penn Engineering and Manufacturing in Danboro, PA in 1995. He was a member of the Wallace Willard Keller American Legion Post 242 and he was an avid Phillies and NASCAR fan.

Son of the late John R. and Ethel Whitman Singley, Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Lois Joyce Cooper Singley, four children, Eugene, Jr. and his wife Barbara, Janet Jensen and her fianc Neil Oswald, Donna Bivighouse and her husband Scott and Gaye Singley and her fianc Joe Birch, Five grandchildren, Jess (Kris), Kirsten, Kaitlin, Shauna and Aaron, two sisters, Pat Shafer and Judy Clausen, and his former son-in-law Eric Jensen. He will be greatly missed by his many four-legged friends who gave him much comfort during his illness.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday June 21, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
