Frederick "Bill" William Saam, IV Obituary
Frederick William (Bill) Saam, IV, 83, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.
Born on September 4, 1942 in Newark, NJ to the late Frederick William Saam, III and Mary (Hay) Saam, Bill was raised in Cranford, where he graduated from Cranford High School before continuing his education at Union College. He spent nearly five decades making his home in Lebanon Township before relocating to Holland Township three years ago after building a new home on the land his parents lived on.
A proud veteran, Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era while stationed in Germany as part of the 85th Maintenance Battalion. His military service reflected the quiet dedication and sense of duty that remained with him throughout his life.
Bill enjoyed a long and accomplished career in manufacturing. He spent more than 20 years at Koh-I-Noor in Bloomsbury, NJ, where he developed his skills as a tool maker and engineer. He later joined Victaulic in Forks Township, PA, where his talent, determination, and strong work ethic led him to continued advancement before he retired in 2007. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of his colleagues through his knowledge, reliability, and commitment to excellence.
Away from work, Bill found joy in following dirt track racing, especially cheering on legendary driver Billy Pauch. Whether listening to the roar of the engines at the track or keeping up with the latest racing news, he was a devoted fan of the sport. He was also a loyal fan of the New York Yankees and Virginia Tech Hokies, rarely missing the opportunity to watch a game and celebrate the successes of his favorite teams.
Bill will be remembered as a hardworking man whose life was defined by dedication—to his family, to his country, his profession, and the passions that brought him happiness. He valued honesty, took pride in a job well done, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life shared with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill is survived by his companion of 26 years Donna Rockhill, his son Frederick William Saam V (Michelle), his brother David A Saam (Kathe), his two grandchildren Kara Innamorati (Anthony) and Kevin Grandmaison, and his great-grandson Owen. He is also survived by his former wife Janice Drummond King (David). He was predeceased by his sister Mary Jane (Saam) Fulcomer. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Interment will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Kidney Fund.
