Gilford A. Haywood Obituary

Gilford A. Haywood, 68, of Kingwood Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at his home.

Born October 20, 1944 in Ashbourn, England, Gil lived in Quebec, Canada and South Amboy, NJ before moving to Kingwood Township 20 years ago. He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the US Navy for eight years. He served for three tours in Vietnam. Gil received his Associates Degree from the Culinary Institute of America in High Park, NY. He was an on-board food service inspector for Amtrak in NYC. Gil enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and landscaping. He was a member of Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church in Baptistown, NJ and the Delaware Valley Manchester Terrier Club.

Son of the late Donald and Kathleen Violet (Molesworth) Haywood, Gil is survived by his beloved wife of forty-three years, Diana Haywood of Kingwood Township, his two sisters Merrylou Smith of Lennoxville, Quebec, Canada and Janet Wingrove of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, a nephew Brian, a niece Patricia and a great niece Raquel, all of Ontario, Canada. He is also survived by his beloved Manchester Terriers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 9, 2013 at 10 AM from the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Our Lady of Victories R.C. Church, Rt. 519, Baptistown (Kingwood Twp.), NJ. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Parlin, NJ. Visitation will be on Friday March 8, from 6 8 PM at the funeral home.
