Giuseppe (Joseph) Guarisco, 80, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Joe was born on September 4, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY where he was raised. Later in life he moved to Roslyn Estates, NY, where he resided with his wife Gail. In 2010, Joe and Gail moved to Phillipsburg, NJ to be closer to family where Joe spent the last 14 years surrounded by many friends, neighbors, and loved ones.
Joseph proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Joe was a gentleman and a very positive person who always entered the room with the warmest brightest smile and loving hugs for everyone. He believed in not sweating the small stuff but enjoying every day to the fullest. Joe loved to joke around and would always have everyone around him laughing and appreciating his great sense of humor. His laughter, warm smile and positive disposition will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Joe worked as an electrician for most of his life. He was also extremely knowledgeable with home repairs and whenever someone needed help Joe was there immediately to lend a hand and teach others his craft. Joe’s biggest passion was bowling, playing competitively in many leagues over the years. He also enjoyed billiards, lottery scratch offs, and going to the horse track. Joe enjoyed the water and taking his boat off the South Shore of Long Island where he would go fishing and crabbing. As a musician Joe played the drums for many years at restaurants and clubs in NYC and Long Island. He had a passion for classic rock, Led Zeppelin being his favorite group.
Above all Joe was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He understood the importance of family and friendships, expressing his love openly and never taking any relationship for granted. Joe will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Son of the late Gasper and May (Mercandante) Guarisco, Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Gail C. (Humbert) Guarisco, his son William R. O’Connor and his wife Janet, his sister Sally Lombardo, and his two loving grandchildren Ryan and Kelsey. He was predeceased by his sister Frances Caiola.
