Heidi L. DeWire, 41, of Long Pond, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the VNA Hospice of Monroe County, East Stroudsburg, PA after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born October 13, 1968 in Phillipsburg, NJ, Heidi lived most recently in Long Pond, PA. She graduated from East Stroudsburg High School in 1987. Heidi was active with the Carbon, Monroe, Pike County Mental Health and Retardation Program. She enjoyed weaving, gardening, scrapbooking and needlepoint. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.
Heidi is survived by her father Arthur L. DeWire, III and his wife Susanna of Holland Township, NJ; her mother Karen Meyers Lessig and her husband Kirk of Saylorsburg, PA; paternal grandparents Arthur L. Jr. and Maetta DeWire of Greenwich Township, NJ; fiance Christopher Lentz of Long Pond, PA; stepbrothers John Henderson, Michael Henderson and Nicholas DeWire; stepsister Sarah Dewire-Rampertab and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents John and Dorothy Meyers.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday January 17, 2010 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ with Celebrant Dory Bless officiating. Interment and graveside services will follow at Bloomsbury Cemetery, Bloomsbury, NJ. Visitation will also be Sunday from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
