Helen C. Sciss, 90, of Upper Black Eddy, PA, passed away on Saturday May 18, 2013 at her home.
Born February 21, 1923 in New York City, Helen lived in Upper Black Eddy, PA since the age of two. She worked at the Riegel Paper Corp. in Milford, NJ, Plessey Porcelain Co. in Frenchtown, NJ and Kerr's Hatchery in Frenchtown, NJ before becoming a full time homemaker. Helen was active, for many years, in the St. Joseph's Parish Alter Rosary Society in Upper Black Eddy, PA. She was an excellent cook and was especially known for her homemade pies and her spaghetti and meatballs. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends.
Daughter of the late Fred and Veronica Stoehr, Helen is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Nicholas T. Sciss, two daughters Linda Burd and her husband Dennis of Plainwell, MI and Debra Hoge and her husband Kurt of Upper Black Eddy, PA, four grandchildren Matthew Burd, Kerry Wagner, Paula Eckard and Monica Dennis and four great grandchildren Joshua and Samantha Wagner and Vincent and Simon Eckard. She was predeceased by her sister Rose.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ 08848. Visitation will also be on Wednesday from 10 11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place the next day, Thursday, at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Haycock Township, PA.
