Henry Clay Nelson, Jr., 76, of Metuchen, NJ, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Complete Care at Woodlands in Plainfield, NJ.

Born February 14, 1948 in Flemington, NJ, Henry lived in South Plainfield, NJ before moving to Metuchen, NJ. He was known for being a hard worker, managing Foodtown stores, for many years. After that, Henry worked as a self-employed distributor of Little Debbie’s snack cakes. He was an avid baseball fan with the New York Yankees being his favorite team. Henry enjoyed all types of music and going to concerts, he especially loved Eric Clapton and George Harrison. He loved craft beer, and enjoyed drinking them with his son-in-law, Ray, when he visited Kari Ann and the girls. Henry was known for getting off the parkway at exit 38 to go to the Atlantic City Casinos with his beloved Lorraine and playing the slots. He loved acting like a complete goofball for his grandchildren’s amusement; laughs and memories that will be cherished forever. Most of all, Henry loved spending time with his family.

Son of the late Henry Clay Nelson, Sr. and Verlie Mae (Sloan) Nelson, Henry is survived by his son Henry Clay Taylor and his wife Aundrea of Milford, NJ, his daughter Kari Ann Perez and her husband Raymond of Downingtown, PA, his grandson Aiden Taylor, and his two granddaughters Gianna Perez and Gabriella Perez, his beloved partner of 20 years Lorraine Papp of Metuchen, NJ, along with her children Elizabeth Sullivan and Lauren Papp and loving grandchildren Andrew and Collin. He is also survived by his sister Dixie Kentopp and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three brothers Jim Nelson, Dale Nelson, John Nelson, his sister Linda Lentini, his son Daniel Clay Taylor, and his grandson Austin Clay Taylor.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 12-2 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ. A Catholic Prayer Service will follow at 2 PM with Deacon William Barr officiating. Interment will be held privately at the North East Methodist Cemetery in North East, MD.
