Honora was born on July 25, 1942 in Newark, N.J. She attended Holy Trinity High School in Westfield, NJ and Kean University (formerly Newark State College) where she graduated with her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She and her late husband, Paul M. Hahr, lived in North Plainfield, NJ before settling in Holland Township in 1976 where they raised their four children.
Honora loved spending time at the New Jersey Shore. She loved music and to dance. She often spoke of large dance parties that she would host as a teenager. In her younger years, you could often find Honora playing tennis at Riegel Ridge or relaxing at the pool. She loved playing bridge, reading and bowling. Honora enjoyed doing crafts; especially sewing, needlepoint and painting. She was proud of her Irish Heritage. Most of all, Honora was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Honora had love for life that was so large it was impossible for her not to share it with her family and friends.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, socializing with her friends and going out to eat. She was an active member of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in Milford, NJ, and the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a long-time member of the Hunterdon County Serra Club, the Holland Township Women’s Club and the Golden Agers.
Daughter of the late James Harvey Eckrich, Sr. and Marion (Gothie) Eckrich, Honora is survived by her four children Meaghan H. Emmons, Paul H. Hahr (his wife Cindy), Colleen H. Tomko (her husband Andrew) and Honora Ann Gilmore (her husband Ike) and her four grandchildren SaraBeth Emmons (her partner Chase Napolitan) Garrett Emmons (his wife Sage) Paul Thomas Tomko and Danielle Oertle (her husband Marcus).
