Howard A. Cooley, 93, of Holland Township, NJ passed away on Saturday July 25, 2009 at his home.

Born August 10, 1915 in Mt. Pleasant, NJ, Howard lived in Frenchtown before moving to Holland Township eleven years ago. He graduated from Frenchtown High School in 1934. He served in the US Navy and was a Sea Bee. A Veteran of WW II, he served in the European and Pacific Theaters and was awarded the Bronze Star. Howard worked at Ingersoll-Rand Co. in Phillipsburg for over 25 years, retiring in 1980, prior to that he had worked at the Frenchtown Porcelain Co. and the Riegel Paper Corp. in Milford. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Orion Lodge #56 F&AM in Frenchtown and the V.F.W. Post 7857 in Milford.

Son of the late Alton and Carrie (Lear) Cooley, Howard is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Helen R. (Crum) Cooley, his son David H. Cooley of Bethlehem Township, PA, two grandsons Thomas of Coopersburg, PA and Michael and his wife Karen of Drexel Hill, PA, three great grandchildren Michaela, Ava and Logan, two special nieces JoAnne Cooley and Patricia Peterson and her husband Dennis, as well as other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Elmer R. Cooley.

Graveside services in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, with military honors, will be held on Saturday August 29, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, Milford, NJ.
