James Allen Hetrick Obituary

James “Jim” Allen Hetrick, 89, of Doylestown Borough, PA, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at his home.   


Born December 13, 1934 in Brookville, PA, Jim lived in Tinicum Township, PA and Oak Ridge, TN, before settling in Doylestown, PA in 2015.  He graduated from Brookville High School in Brookville, PA in 1953.  Jim earned an associate’s degree in Applied Technology from Bucks County Community College.  He served in the United States Army in Germany and France during the Korean War time period.  Jim worked as an electrical technician at Westinghouse in Croydon, PA, and as a process engineer for EG&G, Inc., initially in Princeton, NJ, before retiring from their Oak Ridge, TN location.  Even after retirement, Jim continued to do freelance electronic engineering work.  He was a member of the Upper Tinicum Lutheran Church and served on the church council for many years.  Jim was a member of the Radio Club of Oak Ridge, TN and the Upper Bucks Radio Club.  He loved the outdoors and was an avid cyclist.  Jim enjoyed photography and traveling to Europe with his wife.  He started running in his 80’s and won his age group in the 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Bucks 5K Series.  He ran in the final race of the 2024 series on Father’s Day, a week before his passing.


Son of the late Archie Owen and Sara Charlotte (Hendricks) Hetrick, Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Hazel “Zel” Rever Hetrick, his children, Michael, Randy, Brian and wife Laurie, Jon and wife MacKenzie, and Jennifer and husband Joe; his sisters Connie and Ethel; 9 grandchildren, Tyler, Jessica, Dalton, Laurel, Eleanor, William, Amelia, Matthew and Olivia; 2 great-grandchildren, Brielle and Blake, and extended family.  Jim was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Hetrick.


A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 12 PM at the Upper Tinicum Cemetery, 188 Upper Tinicum Church Road, Upper Black Eddy, PA.  Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.
