James Joseph McArdle, 50, of Alexandria Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025, at his home. 

JJ was born on August 1, 1974 in Somerville, NJ.  He graduated from the Pingry School in Martinsville, NJ.  James received a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology and Theater from Brown University. He worked as a tutor and also as a bartender at Grace in lower Manhattan, NY.  James volunteered for the Hunterdon Helpline, where he was known for helping senior citizens by shopping for them, which he did for nearly five years. He was very active in A.A. in Flemington, NJ.  James enjoyed cooking, reading and arguing politics. JJ was a loving son, who will be dearly missed.     

JJ is survived by his mother Ellen C. Nugent McArdle, his sister JoFran Carr, his aunt Mary Schmidt, his cousins, Jennifer Parker, and Corey Schmidt, many other relatives and dear friends.  He was predeceased by his father Robert J. McArdle in 1985,  his brother Terry McArdle and his aunt Elizabeth Ann Nugent. 

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 6-8 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Certified Funeral Celebrant Henry C. Taylor officiating.
