Jerry R. Vogel, Sr., 74, of Alexandria Township, NJ passed away at his home on Saturday October 29, 2011.

Born October 20, 1937 in Plainfield, NJ, Jerry lived in Alexandria Township for many years. He graduated from Dunellen High School, Dunellen, NJ in 1956 and attended Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. Jerry was the HS&EA / R&D Operations Manager for Union Carbide Corp. in Bound Brook, NJ and Weston Canal Site in Somerset, NJ. At the time of his retirement, in September 1994, Jerry had responsibilities for the Site HS&EA, R&D Lab Services, Site Office Services, TSL, Site Library Services, WCC Building Services, Site Security and R&D Pilot Plant. In earlier years, Jerry worked with the 7UP Bottling Co. and Dugan Brothers Bakery of Plainfield, NJ.

Jerry was a member of Trout Unlimited, SAMs of Maine, and the National Home Gardening Club. He was a former member of the Trout and Grouse Rod and Gun Club of Dunellen, NJ, the Warren Co. Rod and Gun Club and was a Cub Scout and Weblos Leader in Bound Brook, NJ.

Jerrys hobbies included Fly Tying, especially full dress Atlantic Salmon flies and various Trout flies, fly fishing, gardening, collecting horse drawn antique farm implements and wood working. He was an avid NY Giants and NY Mets fan. Jerry was so proud of his cherished time spent with his grandchildren and his extended family members whose love and friendship he also cherished.

Son of the late H. Russell and Anna Francis DeHart Vogel, Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Lucy E. Coy Vogel, his four grandchildren Samantha, Jerry III, Raymond and Nicole and several extended family members. He was predeceased by his two sons, Jerry R. Vogel, Jr. (2005) and Jeffrey R. Vogel (2000).

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at 12 noon at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ. Interment will follow in Bloomsbury Cemetery.
Visitation will also be held on Wednesday, from 10AM 12 noon, prior to the service at the funeral home.
