John “Jack” J. Donnelly, 76, of Milford, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

Born on April 1, 1949, in Jersey City, NJ, Jack grew up in Jersey City and Colonia, NJ. He traveled back and forth from to Nova Scotia, Canada, to New Jersey about every six months, for several years, before settling in Milford, NJ in 1989.

Jack was a graduate of Woodbridge High School, where he met the love of his life, with whom he shared a lifetime of devotion.

Jack worked at the Home Depot warehouse in Watchung, NJ, specializing in windows, where he built a long and successful career, finishing his service as manager.

Outside of work, Jack’s greatest passion was music. A talented drummer, he played in a jazz band during his 20’s and later continued playing for his own enjoyment. He also had the gift of being able to play many other instruments, filling his home and the lives of those around him with music.

A lifelong environmentalist, Jack firmly believed in leaving the world better than he found it. Jack was also an avid bike rider who enjoyed the freedom of the open road and the quiet of nature. He was also a dedicated NBA fan who rarely missed a New York Knicks game, cheering them on with steadfast loyalty. Above all, Jack was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy came from time spent with his family.

He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and devotion to his family and friends.

Son of the late Calvin Michael and Elizabeth A. (Kenny) Donnelly, Jack is survived by his daughter Jaclyn Donnelly, his son Brian Donnelly, his sister Kathleen Bunin, his four brothers Michael Donnelly, Frank Donnelly, Tommy Donnelly, and Jimmy Donnelly and his cherished grandson Calvin. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lynda A. Donnelly in 2020, his four brothers Eugene Donnelly, Stephen Donnelly, Patrick Donnelly, and Vincent Donnelly, and his sister Liz Donnelly.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ.

In lieu of flower, Jack’s wish is for loved ones to plant a tree, clean a beach, or do anything that will help the environment.
