Joseph John Bingert, Jr. Obituary

Joseph John Bingert, Jr., 83, of Flemington, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born on November 9, 1942, in Bonhamtown, NJ, Joseph was a graduate of New Brunswick High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before dedicating his career to serving and protecting others as a patrolman with the New Brunswick Police Department. A man of deep faith, he was a devoted member of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church in Milford, NJ. He was also a member of the Raritan River Boat Club, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Edward's Golden Agers, where he enjoyed the fellowship and friendships he made over the years.

Joseph was a man of many talents whose creativity and craftsmanship touched every aspect of his life. A gifted musician, he spent many years performing as a lead guitar player and vocalist. Music was one of his greatest passions. He found joy in entertaining others through his performances and could play just about any instrument he was handed.

His artistic talents extended far beyond music. Joseph was an accomplished artist and an exceptional woodworker. After retiring from the police department and exploring other fields, he found his true calling when he opened Specialty Woodworking, creating beautiful custom cabinetry and other projects that showcased his remarkable skill, patience, and attention to detail. Whether building something by hand or bringing an artistic vision to life, he took great pride in designing and building pieces that would be admired and enjoyed for years to come.

Joseph also found peace in the outdoors. He embraced every opportunity to spend time boating, camping, and traveling in his RV. Whether relaxing on the water, exploring new destinations, or enjoying the beauty of nature with family and friends, these moments brought him great happiness and created lasting memories.

Joseph will be remembered for his service to his country and community, his remarkable talents, his hardworking spirit, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the family he treasured, the music he played, the heirloom pieces he crafted, and the countless memories made with those fortunate enough to know him.

Above all, Joseph treasured every moment spent with his beloved wife and best friend, Maureen.  They met at ages fifteen and sixteen, respectively, were married for 61 years, and spent the rest of his years together, weathering all storms, rejoicing in all celebrations, and proving that there truly is a love that lasts for all time.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Son of late Joseph Bingert, Sr., and Anne (Yarush) Bingert of Somerset, NJ, and predeceased by brother Thomas Bingert of Ringoes, NJ, Joseph is survived by his beloved wife Maureen (Higgins) Bingert; his son Joseph Bingert and his wife Sharon of Alexandria Township, NJ; his two daughters Karen Bingert and her wife Susan Eckstein of Edison, NJ; Shannon Giuliani and her husband David of Flemington, NJ; his four grandchildren Gavin, Jaxon, Skylar, and Zebulon; and several nieces and nephews.
