Karyn S. Pristas, 44, of Frenchtown, NJ passed away on Sunday October 4, 2009 at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born May 10, 1965 in New Hyde Park, Long Island, NY, Karyn lived in East Windsor, NJ and Mercerville, NJ prior to moving to Frenchtown in 2000. She graduated from Hightstown High School and Middlesex Community College. She held degrees in Culinary Arts and Early Childhood Education. She owned Rainbow Ridge Early Childcare Center in Frenchtown, NJ and prior to that worked as a chef, most notably at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Princeton, NJ. She was active with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Mercer County, the Frenchtown PTO and was very instrumental in the construction of the schools new playground. She was an avid Yankees Fan and enjoyed cooking and photography.

Daughter of Ronald and Ruby Shulman Silverstein of Coral Springs, FL, Karyn is also survived by her loving husband of 9 years, Ronald S. Pristas, their daughters Rose S. Pristas and Grace E. Pristas, brother Russell C. Silverstein of North Carolina, mother and father in-law Martha and Stanley Olszewski of Portage, PA, brother in-law and sister in-law George and Jackie Pristas of Virginia, sister in-law Ruth Olszewski of Princeton, NJ, niece Allison Pristas, dear friend Ardeth Ebling and many wonderful friends and neighbors of Frenchtown and surrounding area.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday October 7, 2009 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ. Visitation was held 10-11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
