Mabel K. Bowers, 85, of Whitehall, PA, formerly of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Thursday January 27, 2011 at Fellowship Manor in Whitehall.

Born July 8, 1925 in Phillipsburg, NJ, Mabel moved to Holland Township in 1960. She was a homemaker and an active member of the First United Church of Christ in Milford where she had served as a Deacon, choir member, Sunday school teacher and coordinator of the food pantry. Mabel was also active in her community and was a former member of the Kitchenaires Band of the Riegel Ridge in Holland Township, the Musical Arts Chorus of Easton, PA, the Milford V.F.W. Ladies Auxillary, and a life-member of the Holland Township Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxillary. Mabel also had served as an Air Raid Warden during WWII. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, baking, painting and gardening.

Daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Klinko Deacon, Mabels husband William R. Bowers passed away in 2000. She is survived by two sons Timothy Bowers and his wife Karen of Kunkletown, PA, and Mark Bowers and his wife Lynn of Hampton, NJ, two daughters Linda Bowers of Trexlertown, PA and Jane Bowers and her husband James Tonge of Pittstown, NJ, two grandchildren Krista Tucker and Robbie Compton and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Michelle Donaruma, two brothers William L. and James Deacon and her sister Ann Bronico.

Funeral services will be held on Friday February 4, 2011 at 10 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ. Interment will follow in Bloomsbury Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 7 9 PM at the funeral home.
