Maria Lucia Badolato, 79, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born November 27, 1945, in Palermo, Sicily, Maria moved to the United States in 1967, settling in Brooklyn, NY. In 1969, she married her beloved husband, Nicola, and together they began their life in Summit, NJ. They later moved to New Providence, NJ, where they raised their family and lived for 39 years before making their home in Holland Township, NJ in 2017.

A talented and dedicated seamstress, Maria worked for Ana's Design in Springfield, NJ, for 10 years and previously for David’s Bridal in Livingston, NJ. She also shared her gift through sewing for many private clients, especially family and friends, altering countless wedding gowns.

Maria was happiest when surrounded by her family. She loved cooking and baking, and her kitchen was always filled with warmth and the delicious aromas of her creations. She enjoyed playing cards—especially poker—with her family, and she delighted in trying her luck with the lottery, once winning big in the New Jersey Cash Five. She also found joy in shopping, particularly from QVC and the Home Shopping Club.

Maria will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her vibrant spirit, and her many talents that touched those around her.

Daughter of the late Isidoro and Leanora (Busulacchi) Caló, Maria is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Nicola “Nick” Badolato, her three sons Cesare Badolato and his wife Amy, Isidoro Badolato and his wife Donna, and Michele Badolato, and her five grandchildren Nicholas, Rosalia, Matthew, Isabella, and Maximo.  She was predeceased by her brother Carmelo Caló. 

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 3-6 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ.  The funeral will begin on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 10 AM, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church, 61 Mill Street, Milford, NJ, with Father Bede Kim officiating. Entombment will follow at the St. Mary’s Mausoleum in Alpha, NJ.
