Mary A. Maurer Obituary

Mary A. Maurer, 95, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025.  She spent the past few years living at Brandywine Living in Princeton, NJ.  Mary visited all 50 states but loved NJ the most since it was close to lovely mountains, big cities, and the beach.

Born May 15, 1930, in Croton, NJ, Mary lived most of her life in Holland Township, NJ – 50 years on top of Warren Glen Hill. She graduated from Frenchtown High School and was even 2nd in the state spelling bee.  Mary worked for Ingersoll Rand in Phillipsburg, NJ for 16 years, attaining the position of Quality Control Supervisor. Prior to that, she worked for Prudential, and L.A. Fish Co. Engineering in Phillipsburg, NJ.  After her retirement, Mary helped friends and family prepare their taxes.  Mary was an avid bowler, and competed in up to three leagues a year, even traveling the country for competitions. She loved the outdoors, played golf, tennis, and especially enjoyed skiing, which she was able to do into her late 70’s. Mary was a former member of St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church in Milford, NJ, where she taught Catechism in the 1970’s.  Mary was most proud of her large and loving Polish family. With her siblings (10), the family grew immensely. There were countless picnics, weddings, graduations, and other celebrations – often where Mary was the life of the party. A loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Mary will be dearly missed.

Daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Ziemanek) Stachnik, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert William Maurer. She is survived by her three loving sons Robert S. and his wife Ashley, Bruce M. and his wife Amy Jo, and Kirk and his wife Christy, her brother Frank Stachnik, sister Antionette Schrimpe, five grandchildren Lisa, Michele, Todd Matthew, Grant, and Brad and a great granddaughter Amelia. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Ellen Maurer, six sisters Sophia, Helen, Julie, Jennie, Ann, and Caroline and two brothers Charlie and Stanley.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. A visitation from 9-10 AM will be held prior to the Catholic Prayer Service and Celebration of Mary’s Life beginning at 10 AM on Wednesday June 4 at the funeral home, with Father Bede Kim officiating.  Interment will follow at the Rosemont Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bowl4Life.com. A foundation whose goal is to raise awareness and love of bowling among youths of all ages.  Or a contribution may be made to the American Cancer Society.
