Matthew Aloysius Schick Obituary

Matthew Aloysius Schick, 71, of Upper Black Eddy, PA, passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus in Quakertown, PA.


Born July 13, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA, Matt ultimately moved to Upper Black Eddy, PA, in 1983.  He graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, PA, and later earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Bucks County Community College in Newtown, PA.  Matt started working at The Budd Company in Philadelphia, PA.  He then changed careers and became “Matt the Visiting Nurse” for 25 years at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.  Later, he became a nursing supervisor at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus in Quakertown, PA, before ultimately retiring as a supervisor for Phoebe-Richland Health Care Center in Richlandtown, PA.  He enjoyed working on cars, and riding his motorcycle. Matt was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.  But most of all, Matt loved spending time with his family and friends.     


Son of the late Matthew A. and Rita (Brown) Schick, Matt is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Lisa (Freeh) Schick, his sons Matthew Schick and his wife Kristal of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Kevin Schick and his wife Jessica of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Timothy Schick and his wife Devin of Nazareth, PA, and Ryan Schick of Phoenixville, PA, his daughter Sarah Schick and her partner John of Philadelphia, PA, his brothers Francis Schick of Philadelphia, PA, John Schick and his wife Patricia of Newtown, PA, and Joseph Schick and his wife AnnMarie of Philadelphia, PA, his sister Marita Tinney and her husband William of Philadelphia, PA, his brother-in-law James Clark of Glen Mills, PA, his grandchildren Allison, Samantha, Arlo, and Olen, as well as by many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister Rosemarie Clark in 2024.


A Celebration of Matt’s Life will take place at a later date.  Interment will be held privately at the Nockamixon Union Cemetery in Ferndale, PA.  Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ. 


Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, PA.
