Richard J. Bertoldo

Richard J. Bertoldo, 85, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family

Born September 11, 1940 in Orange, NJ, Richard grew up in East Orange, NJ and moved to Branchburg, NJ after marrying his wife Judith (Judy), before settling in Holland Township, NJ in 1976. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Radarmen during the Vietnam Era

Richard graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a minor in Mathematics. He later attended RCA Technological School and went on to work as an electrical engineer for Lucent Technologies in Allentown, PA, for many years, before retiring

A man of strong faith, Richard was a parishioner of St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church, Richard lovingly known by many as “Pop-Pop”, valued his family, friends and faith. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them out for fun adventures, going to their activities and sporting events. Pop-Pop” will be extremely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is the son of the late Benjamin and Lena (Brienza) Bertoldo, Richard is survived by his two sons Jeffrey “Jeff” Bertoldo and his wife Phoebe, Jonathan “Jon” Bertoldo and his wife Tricia (Trish), and his daughter-in-law Lana Bertoldo, his six grandchildren Cooper, Tanner, Tyler, Heather, Danielle and Christopher as well as 4 Great-Grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Judith A. (Carlitus) Bertoldo in 2005, his son Richard “Rick” Bertoldo in 2009, and his sister Florence Orefice in 2023.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Friday, May 29, 2026 from 6-8 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church, 61 Mill Street, Milford, NJ, with Father Bede Kim officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Milford Union Cemetery.
