Richard J. Miller, Sr., 95, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at his home.

Born August 12, 1929 in Phillipsburg, NJ, Richard grew up in Asbury, NJ, before settling in Holland Township, NJ, in 1941. He graduated from Frenchtown High School in 1948. Richard worked for Steckle Concrete in Phillipsburg, NJ, at age 17, and worked as a mason for 10 years with various employers, before starting his own business, Richard J. Miller and Sons, in 1955 in Holland Township, NJ. He was a member of the Masonic Host Lodge No. 6 F&AM in High Bridge, NJ. Richard also served on the Board of Directors for International Door Association (IDA). He enjoyed the casino and traveling, having been to all 50 states as well as all over the world. Richard was a hard worker and would try to combine work with pleasure whenever possible.

Son of the late Arthur and Pearl Edna (Fleming) Miller, Richard is survived by his sons David W. Miller and his wife Janet of Wilson Township, PA, Bruce E. Miller and his wife Lori of Holland Township, NJ, Eric B. Miller and his girlfriend Cindy Collura of Wilson Township, PA, his daughters Susan L. Ciotti and her husband David of Hamilton, NJ, and Brenda L. Miller of Forked River, NJ, his daughter-in-law Patti Miller of Palmer Township, PA, his brother Jacob Randolph Miller of Mimbre, NM, his grandchildren Stephanie, Julie, Melissa, Ahren, Kelli, Joshua, Richard III, Kevin, Michael, Laura, Meredith, and Taylor, and his great-grandchildren Ethan, Aiden, Jackson, Lyla, Winston, Jordan, Carson and Nicole. Richard was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth (Bartleman) Miller in 2006, his son Richard J. Miller, Jr., his brother Harold Miller, his grandson Ryan, and his second wife, Regina Miller, in 2022.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 6-8 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. A graveside committal service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 11 AM, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. A memorial service will immediately follow at the Alexandria Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Nick Hatch officiating.
