Richard R. Myszka Obituary

Richard R. Myszka, 88, of Dover Township, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024 at his home.

Born July 29, 1935 in Elizabeth, NJ, Richard lived in Scotch Plains, NJ, and Milford, NJ, before settling in Dover, PA in April 2022. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam Era. Richard graduated from Seton Hall University with a BA in pre-law and an MA in education. He also attended Newark State College, Kean University, and Rider University for additional courses to obtain further certification. Richard was an elementary school teacher supervisor in Old Bridge, NJ for seven years. He served as the Administrative Principal from 1968-1973, as well as taught 5-8th grades for 25 years with two additional years as Administrative Principal before he retired from Frenchtown Elementary School in Frenchtown, NJ in 1997. Richard was a member of St. Edward R.C. Church, and he rebuilt the church in the 1970’s. He enjoyed radio controlled airplanes, rehabilitating properties for construction, and boating; he was a captain on a fishing trawler at one point. Richard was an antique car collector, particularly loving Ford Model T’s and Model A’s, and was an avid motorcyclist who owned three bikes.

Son of the late Anthony and Bertha (Major) Myszka, Richard is survived by his daughter Sharon A. Teresi of Jacksonville, FL, his brother Martin Myszka and his wife Dorothy of Brick Township, NJ, his niece Karen Ostberg and her partner Charles of Brielle, NJ, his nephew Matthew Myszka and his wife Mary Jo of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, and his three grandsons Vincenzo, Christopher, and Brandon. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie H. Lynch, in 2008, and his son Brian J. Myszka in 2010.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ 08848. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11 AM at St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church, 61 Mill Street, Milford, NJ 08848, officiated by Father Bede Kim and Deacon Bill Barr. Interment will follow at the Milford Union Cemetery in Milford, NJ.
