Sandra Louise Johnston, 60, of Holland Township, NJ passed away at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA on Sunday October 18, 2009.

Born July 6, 1949 in Richmond, VA, Sandra moved to Holland Township, NJ 25 years ago. Sandra was the warranty manager at Flemington Subaru for over 10 years and prior to that worked at C & P Telephone Co. in Richmond, VA.

She was a kind unselfish mother and wife always putting others needs before her own. In addition to raising three children, she tirelessly spent much of her time on volunteer activities for the benefit of others. Sandra was a member of the Matowaka Woman's Club in Richmond, VA and joined the Junior Woman's Club of North Hunterdon after moving to New Jersey. After serving as President, she became the New Jersey Fourth District Advisor. She then served as the Central Jersey Assistant Director and the New Jersey Junior Director from 1992-1994. Sandra served as the Special State Project Chairman from 1994-1996, working with the American Cancer Society on their "Feel the Smile of A Child" program to raise funds to provide recreational outings for children with cancer, their siblings and in some cases, children whose parents have cancer as well. During the two year term, close to $112,000 was raised. She then went on to serve as Public Affiars Chairman and was a current member of the Past Junior Director's Club. Sandra will be missed by all of those whose lives she touched.

Sandra is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years Gary P. Johnston, her son Matthew Johnston of Bellingham, WA, daughters Emily Rich and her husband Zachary of Lambertville, NJ and Kathleen Polizzio and her husband Michael of Phillipsburg, NJ, Granddaughter Juliet Rich, her mother Shirley Welton Lowe of Richmond, VA and nieces Elizabeth, Johanna and Christine. Sandra was pre-deceased by her father, Robert Lowe, and sisters Sheryl Grubbs and Susan Mount.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 at 6 pm at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Milford, NJ 08848. Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
