Sharon Jane Cronce Woods, 66, of Manassas, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on October 16, 1946 in Phillipsburg, NJ, Sharon was raised in Mt. Pleasant until her father, Fred Cronce, died in a work related accident when she was a year old. Her mother, June Scheetz, later married Grant Scheetz and moved to Milford. Sharon attended Delaware Valley High School and later graduated from Glassboro State (now Rowan University) with a teaching degree. She married William Woods and gave birth to her only child, Bonnie Woods, in 1968. The Woods family settled in Manassas, Virginia, where Sharon taught elementary and special education students in the Prince William County schools. She retired in 2009 after over 30 years of service.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Woods, and her husband Robert Gorey, three grandchildren, her brother Laine Scheetz of Milford, and his wife Arlene, a niece and a nephew, and mother June Scheetz, of Easton, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 27, 2012 at 11 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ, with the Reverend William TexCulton officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Alexandria Township, NJ. Visitation will be held prior to service from 9 to 11 AM.
