Sidney Sussman, 89, of Clinton Township, NJ passed away on Thursday May 28, 2009 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.
Born September 29, 1919 and raised in New York City, Sidney lived in Bernardsville, NJ before moving to the Clinton area over 20 years ago. He was the owner of Sussmans Department Store in Bernardsville, NJ for over 60 years. Sidney was an U.S. Army veteran of WWII and had served in the Philippines. He was known for writing his column Wrapping It Up, in the Bernardsville News. He ran the Fresh Air Fund in Somerset County, NJ for many years and was a member of the Bernardsville Kiwanis Club in Bernardsville for 58 years.
Son of the late Phillip and Minnie Sussman, Sidney is survived by his beloved wife Judith (Bussing) Sussman, son Elliot M. Sussman of Idaho, two daughters Susan Sussman of Israel and Chona Joy Ananda of Florida, stepson Daniel Stickel of California, stepdaughter Lorelei Olsen of New Jersey, brother Milton Sussman of New Jersey, 10 grandchildren Michael, Jessica, Nicholas, Andrea, Stephanie, Savannah, Amir, Mona, Latifa and Katherine and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Irving Sussman.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday May 31, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Milford (Holland Township), NJ 08848.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish National Fund, 42 East 69th St., New York, NY 10021.
