Susan Karen Colvin Obituary

Susan Karen Colvin, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, of Northampton Township, PA, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025. Born in Plainfield, NJ on October 13, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Eleanor (Finken) Heidinger.

Susan grew up in Watchung, NJ, and lived in Readington Township, NJ, before settling in Churchville, PA in 1992. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. Susan worked for Kemper in Manhattan, NY, as well as Corporate Claims Management in Ivyland, PA, before retiring from the Financial Aid Department at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, PA.

Susan touched the lives of many, and is truly leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Family always came first for Susan, and she never hesitated to go above and beyond to care for those around her, be it aging parents, friends and family, the students she worked with during her time at Bucks County Community College, or the children she taught during her years as a Sunday School teacher. A devoted mother, she gave her all to raising her children with love, patience, and tireless support. She loved spending time with her family, and adored playing with and reading to her precious grandson, Lucas.

An avid traveler, Susan loved exploring new sights and cities across the U.S. and abroad with her family and friends. A true artist and creative at heart, Susan was always ready to delve into a new craft or home project, try a new recipe, or revive the dishes she was famous for, including her apple pie. She especially found peace in being outdoors and listening to music.

Susan was the beloved wife of Brian Colvin for 37 years; devoted mother of Michael Colvin and his wife, Alexandra, and Brittany Gbur and her husband Peter; adoring grandmother of Lucas; and dear sister of her brother James “Jim” Heidinger. She will also be missed by her cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
