Sylvia Smith Warnkin, 76, of Lopatcong Township, NJ entered into eternal peace on Friday January 1, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 13, 1933 in Alexandria Township, NJ, Sylvia resided in Washington, NJ for 52 years before settling in Lopatcong Township, NJ. She attended Frenchtown High School. She worked with the handicapped and was a transportation coordinator with Abilities of North West Jersey for 17 years before retiring in 1994. Sylvia was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Washington, NJ, prior to that she was a member of the Alexandria First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant in Alexandria Township, NJ. She sang in the choir at both churches, for a total of over 30 years. Sylvia was a very artistic person and she enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Daughter of the late Harvey and Margurite Pickel Kerr, Sylvias first husband James E. Smith passed away in 1971. She is survived by her husband Delbert Jake Warnkin, her daughter Debra DiFrancesco and her husband Rocco of Califon, NJ, brother Earle Kerr of Alexandria Township, and sister Helen J. Kovatch of Frenchtown, NJ. Sylvia was predeceased by her son James E. Smith and her daughter Bonnie Lee.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Alexandria First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant, 141 Little York Mt. Pleasant Rd., Alexandria Township, NJ. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ.
