Timothy Michael Verity Obituary
It is with heavy hearts, and many tears, that we announce the passing of Timothy Michael Verity, age 62, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, after only 3 days in-hospital at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ, surrounded by his loving children who kept an overnight 12-hour vigil in-room. His battle with lung cancer began too late, so lasting only 3 months, the family was left with no real time for emotional preparation. Born February 17, 1964, he was the 2nd son of Henry Charles Verity, Jr. & Nancy Carol (Franklin) of Pittstown, NJ, joining his older brother, Richard (Rick) and then followed 5 years later by another brother, David (Davy).
Growing up on the family’s farm in Pittstown, Timothy enjoyed the rural life and simple pleasures at home that later made him the quiet, peace loving, “scenic route taking” man that he was. Tim was a graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School (Annandale, NJ) in 1983, Warren Co. Votech (Washington, NJ), ABC of Central Indiana (Indpls, IN) and Vincennes University (Indpls, IN) on May 20, 2011, a proud day for him. After high school, Tim began his career as a plumber/pipe fitter with James H. Stashluk Mechanical Contractors where he remained for almost 20 years, which included a decade long position at National Starch & Chemical Co. in Bridgewater, NJ where he met Kerry Lynn Williams, leading to a 20-year marriage and 6 children; Amber M. (29) of Bargersville, IN, Trevor A. (27) of Clayton, NC, Gavin RS. (19), Amanda M. (16), Melanie S. (14) & Victoria E. (13) all of North Country, NY. Timothy is survived by his aforementioned parents and older brother Richard, as well as his widowed sister-in-law, Connie; his nieces and nephews, Candice (Travis), Kyle, Rhett, Brendan & Alyssa, as well as 2 young great-nephews. Also surviving are his extended family of former in-laws, Cathy Williams of Bargersville, IN, Gladys & Rich Chipa of Clayton, NC & Cassie Higgins of Flemington, NJ. Timothy was predeceased by his gr.grandmother, Cora Verity (1972), whom he lovingly recalled as making the best breakfast eggs ever; his father-in-law, Kerry S. Williams (2005), who loved Tim very much, and shared racing car discussions & many family Walt Disney World vacations; his paternal grandparents, Shirley (Baker) Verity (2008) & Henry Charles, Sr. (2009); his sister-in-law, Patience Verity (2014) with whom he loved a good banter, and his “baby” brother, Davy (2025).
Tim always said his favorite working years were 2003 thru 2005 when he worked with his life-long friend Mike Hughes, plumbing in PA. Life changes brought a family move to Indiana in 2005, and so began his Hoosier years, first working with United Mechanical Contractors in Carmel, IN. then Ellis Mechanical Inc. in Indianapolis where he worked until January 2015. Timothy then returned home to NJ, beginning work with IT Landes, where he was still employed and had hoped to retire. Tim loved Nascar and local/regional dirt track racing. “Back in the day, he spent every weekend and free evening helping out the renowned Doug Hoffman for his modified race team’s pit crew. In later years, Tim proudly owned his own go-kart for many years and raced when he could, enjoying his group of racing friends in Greensburg, IN. He was a fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox & Philadelphia Flyers. He loved dogs, roller coasters, casual fishing once in a while, and definitely loved his restful Sundays. His children were a great delight to him as he enjoyed all their baby first moments, young birthday parties, toy shopping trips, moments at the parks and especially Hot Dog Johnny’s. Being a great plumber, he had no qualms about diaper duty and, of course, like any good dad, he had to teach them all the humorous sides of life. Timothy was a baptized member of the Everittstown United Methodist Church in NJ; although not an active member himself, his mother has always been. For his wife & children’s sake, he had agreed to become Catholic on Christmas of 2018, but no action was taken to that end until his final day. Fr. John at HMC was very kind in joining Tim’s children leading them not only in prayer & Holy Blessings, but with an emergency sacramental Anointing of the Sick upon Timothy while he was not yet unconscious.
A Graveside Funeral Service for Timothy will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 11 AM, at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Alexandria Township, Milford, NJ. The services will be officiated by Deacon William Barr, of St. Edward the Confessor Roman Catholic Church, Milford, NJ. and Life Celebrant Henry C. Taylor. Interment will immediately follow the services at the cemetery.
