Verna B. Pursell, 92, of Milford, NJ passed away on Saturday April 2, 2011 at Country Meadows Care Center in Bethlehem Township, PA.

Born April 14, 1918 in Holland Township, NJ, Verna was a life long resident of Milford. She graduated from Frenchtown High School in 1935 and from Rider College in Trenton in 1937 with a degree in business. Verna was a homemaker, and had worked, after college, at the Community Chest, a non-profit organization in Trenton, NJ. Verna was known as a very happy person who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was an avid Yankees fan. She was an active member of the First United Church of Christ in Milford since 1931 and was the churchs oldest living member. She was also a member of the Board of Elections in Milford for many years.

Daughter of the late Joseph E. and Viola Burgstreser Wean, Vernas beloved husband, Willard Bill Pursell passed away in 1993. She is survived by her loving daughter Joanne Rodenbach of Ridgefield, CT, son-in-law Raymond Peluszak of Easton, PA, her five grandchildren Kara Senderling and her husband Gary of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Kurt Peluszak and his wife Kate of Northampton, PA, Kris Peluszak and his wife Caitlin of Voorhees, NJ, Megan Gaffney and her husband Davin of Dublin, Ireland and Kyle Rodenbach of Ridgefield, CT, and six great grandchildren Caitlyn, Corey, Matthew, Cale, Thomas and Avery. She was predeceased by her daughter Gwendolyn Peluszak in 2006.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 7, 2011 at 12 noon at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd., Holland Township, NJ. Interment will follow in Milford Union Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
