Violette E. Riehl, 73, of Holland Township, NJ passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday May 31, 2009.
Born July 9, 1935 in Irvington, NJ, Violette lived there until moving to Holland Township in 1972.
She was the former owner of the Countryside Luncheonette in Washington, NJ. She also worked at the Holland Township Elementary School in the cafeteria and the library. Violette attended St. Marys R.C. Church in Alpha, NJ. She was an active member of the Riegel Ridge Community Center, where she coached cheerleading and softball and was involved with the swim team. Violette enjoyed bowling and played in a league and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family.
Daughter of the late Benjamin and Violet Pitcher, Violettes beloved husband William J. Riehl passed away in 2002. She is survived by her son Michael W. Riehl and his wife Kathleen of Allentown, PA, two daughters Pamela Horack and her husband John of Pohatcong Township, NJ and Patricia Bill and her husband D.J. of Clark, Missouri, a brother Robert Pitcher of Florida and eight grandchildren, Brandon, Jodie, Brianna, Amanda, Corey, Nicole, Chad and Jared.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 4, 2009 at 9:15 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Rd. Holland Township, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Marys R.C. Church in Alpha, NJ. Entombment will be in St. Marys Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7 -9 PM at the funeral home.
