Walter E. Bechmann, Jr, 81, of Kingwood Township, died Monday, August 27, 2012 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.
Born October 17, 1030 in Irvington, NJ, he lived in Bridgewater before moving to Kingwood in 1977. He was a Korean War Veteran of the US Navy; was a tractor-trailer driver for Anchor Motor Freight in Linden for many years and was a member of Teamsters Local #469. He was also a member of the F&AM Loyalty Lodge of Union, Eastern Star- Stewart #166 of High Bridge and the National Campers and Travelers Association. Walter loved to travel the United States by camper. If you can drive there; he has been there. He will be dearly missed by his beloved family and friends.
Son of the late Walter E. Bechmann, Sr and the late Gertrude Schafer Bechmann, Walter is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Jeanne and James Osmun of Frenchtown and Jan and Mark Donlay of Holland Twp; one son, Wayne Bechmann of Kingwood Twp; a sister, Dorothea Otto of Warren, NJ; three granddaughters: Stephanie, Samantha and Melissa, and two great-granddaughters, McKenna and Riley. Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie in 2009.
Funeral services will be held 8pm Thursday August 30, 2012 at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Interment will be conducted privately in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ. Visitation is 6-8pm on Thursday just prior to service at the funeral home.
