Walter L. Lech, 67, of Holland Township, NJ passed away on Friday January 20, 2012 at Rolling Hills Care Center in Clinton Township, NJ.
Born December 9, 1944 in Wilkes Barre, PA, Walter lived in Manville, NJ before moving to Holland Township forty years ago. He worked as a graphic artist for The Jewish State newspaper in Highland Park, NJ. Prior to that, he worked for Forbes Newspapers in Somerville, NJ for twenty two years, as well as various other print shops. Walter was a member of St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church in Milford, NJ, where he sang in the choir. He also sang in the Diocesan Choir in Metuchen, NJ.
A talented musician, Walter was an all-state musician in high school, playing the clarinet and the saxophone. Over the years, he played in several professional bands and he had recorded four Polka albums with Bernie Goydish. Most importantly, Walter was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Son of the late Walter J. Lech and Johanna Milewski Lech, Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Alice E. Kogut Lech, two sons Stanley Lech and his wife Laura of Seaside Heights, NJ and Matthew Lech of Holland Township, NJ, his daughter Danielle Lech of Washington, NJ, two sisters Joanna Kropewniecki of Readington Township, NJ and Diana Sullivan of Dover, NJ and two grandchildren, Anakin Paul Lech and Logan Matthew Lech.
A Memorial Mass for Walter will be celebrated on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at 11 AM at St. Edward the Confessor R.C. Church, 61 Mill St., Milford, NJ 08848. Arrangements are under the care of the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, Milford, NJ.
